I’ve tried a lot of AI art generators on TV and it’s always fun to see what you can create from the short prompts. Switchbot brings the same creative spark to the wall with the new AI art frame unveiled at IFA 2025 today. Instead of static painting or printing, you get a frame that can transform you or your child into something they dream of. For those who like to change the look of their rooms, this can be a playful, endlessly customizable addition.
What makes the Switchbot’s approach interesting is the use of E-ink spectrum 6-color E-paper, rather than LCD or OLED displays. The effect is closer to paper than a vibrant, sparkling screen, with no blue light and a comfortable visual for long-term viewing. More importantly, the frame can run for up to two years on a single charge. That’s a big deal as most digital art frames require a power cord and the cord is always a design compromise. By running wire-free, AI art frames can blend in as naturally as the prints you buy from IKEA (and yes, they are designed to be compatible with IKEA frames).
The creative side is handled directly in the Switchbot app. Enter a text prompt or upload an image and the frame generates new artwork on demand. According to Switchbot, AI models are trained locally rather than relying on third-party services, so prompts remain private and the models continue to improve over time. Beyond AI art, you can also upload your own family photos and other images. This can also be as personal as a digital gallery.

The size ranges range from the desktop version of 7.3-inch to 31.5-inch wall-mountable models, with a 13.3-inch mid-op option for standard laptop screen sizes. You can use them in portraits or landscape orientations, and the aluminum housing gives the frame a minimal gallery-like feel.
Switchbot AI ART frames are scheduled to be shipped in November 2025. No pricing has been announced.
