President Donald Trump has several ideas about spreading images and videos generated online by AI.
“To be honest with you, that’s a bit scary,” Trump told reporters when he asked questions at the White House Tuesday afternoon.
Trump made the comment after being asked by a reporter about the video about an online video showing a black bag being pushed out of a White House window.
The president said the video “probably produced AI” because these windows are “armored and bulletproof” and are difficult to open.
“The last place I do that is that,” Trump said, “Because there are cameras everywhere.”
Trump’s comments were inconsistent with previous statements made by the White House regarding the video.
“It was the contractors who were doing regular maintenance while the president was gone,” a White House official told time.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the obvious inconsistency.
“One of the problems we have with AI – it’s both the good and the bad,” Trump said. “If something really bad happens, you just blame the AI. But they create things. You know, it works both ways.”
Other politicians, including Vice President JD Vance, use the AI itself for a variety of purposes, including image generation.
Vance told the podcaster in August that he used Xai’s Grok to help him generate illustrations for custom children’s books with his kids.
“Some of them are totally confused,” Vance said, referring to the illustration. “It’s like a jaguar with fangs through a tiger skull, and it’s like, ‘This is really scary shit.’ But here we love it. ”
