Apple has patented a new AI security camera that uses facial recognition and “body print” technology to identify people based on their physical characteristics, such as torso images and clothing.

The system uses deep learning models to capture and analyze images to improve accuracy.

If a match is found, users will be alerted and able to view the live feed on their Apple device.

The innovation comes as Apple is reportedly considering more privacy-focused smart home devices.

Apple receives patent for AI security camera with 'body print' recognition

Apple may be planning to enter the smart home space

what are you talking about

Apple has been awarded a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its unique security camera technology.

The patent reveals that Apple’s security camera technology can identify individuals even when their faces are not visible on camera.

The technology could be part of Apple’s larger plan to enter the smart home space, starting with wall-mounted tablets.

Apple security camera technology: Learn more

The patent details a security camera system that uses facial recognition and “body print” technology.

This innovative approach allows the system to work with Face ID to identify a person’s physical features, such as torso images and clothing.

To learn the physical characteristics of different people, surveillance camera systems need to capture and temporarily store images.

The patent document also reveals that these images will be analyzed with deep learning models to improve identification accuracy.

Now you can access your data on Apple ecosystem devices

Once the system identifies a potential match, it will alert users in the home according to the patent details.

Users can access these details and view the security camera’s live feed on their iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.

The patent comes shortly after Bloomberg’s Mark Garman reported that Apple is considering developing privacy-focused home cameras and other smart home devices.
