Adobe announced that it is introducing a new AI assistant (beta) to Adobe Express. It provides users with conversational authoring and editing capabilities aimed at streamlining the content creation process.
The AI assistant in Adobe Express is designed to provide context and semantic understanding of design elements, allowing users of all skill levels to create content that goes beyond standard templates by simply describing the desired outcome. This tool allows you to seamlessly transition between conversational authoring and manual editing using built-in tools like sliders and color selectors.
Users can apply edits to any layer of the design, including fonts, images, and backgrounds, without changing other elements. Powering the AI assistant, the Express platform supports integration with major chatbot platforms, giving users more flexibility in how and where they create content using Adobe Express.
The company also introduced Dev MCP Server for Adobe Express add-ons, allowing third parties to build new features and integrations with conversational interfaces within the platform.
“Adobe Express’ new AI assistant was built to transform the way you create,” said Govind Balakrishnan, Adobe senior vice president and general manager of Adobe Express. “By removing obstacles, speeding up processes, and providing inspiration, we empower users to create content that goes beyond templates to represent their unique brand, business, and vision. We lower the barrier to creativity and make creating great content even more accessible to everyone.”
An Adobe survey of more than 16,000 creators around the world found that 81% use generative AI experiences like Adobe Express to develop content they couldn’t create otherwise. More than 70% of respondents expressed enthusiasm for the potential of agent AI to further enhance creativity.
Content creation using conversational AI
Express’ AI Assistant is a combination of generative AI tools, conversational AI agents, and creative tools from Adobe. Users can transform templates into interactive canvases, generate images, change backgrounds and text, and replace objects using simple conversational commands, without requiring detailed knowledge of tools or processes.
AI assistants allow users to iterate on all aspects of content and make changes to individual elements and layers across campaigns without discarding previously completed work. The assistant can also handle ambiguous requests and provide new designs, tools, and contextual prompts. For example, if a user requests that the design be made “more tropical,” the AI can update the theme with foliage, flowers, and vibrant colors while providing additional editing options such as color adjustments. The assistant may follow up with suggestions, such as changing the font to match the new theme.
Leverage Adobe’s creative intelligence
AI Assistant leverages a variety of first-party and third-party AI models to perform a wide range of tasks, leveraging Adobe’s large library of creative tools and professional-quality assets. Based on knowledge and best practices gleaned from professional creatives, our AI assistants can understand composition, color harmony, font selection, and asset transformations like creating videos from images or updating themes across campaigns. Adobe says that by incorporating this creative intelligence, you can deliver high-quality content that stands out and drives engagement.
Availability and price
The AI Assistant beta is currently accessible on desktop for Adobe Express Premium customers. Once generally available, it will be rolled out to all Express customers through the Firefly-generated credit system, with additional credit packs available for customers with higher usage needs.
