Boomi LP looks at artificial intelligence-driven agents to simplify complex applications and data integration processes, and its ultimate goal is to drive business transformation.

This is doing this on a new platform called Boomi AgentStudio. This was generally announced today along with a variety of other innovations, including support for the open source model contextual protocol and collaboration with Amazon Web Services Inc., focusing on AI agent orchestration.

AI agents have emerged as one of the hottest trends. They are often said to be the next evolution of generating AI, and are beyond understanding and answering questions to take action on behalf of the user. AI agents capable of automating all kinds of complex information technology processes are particularly promising in the field of application integration, explaining Boomi’s interest in this trend.

Formerly owned by Dell Technologies Inc. and now a standalone company, Boomi is widely regarded as a leader in integrated operations. It offers an “integrated platform as a service” that helps businesses connect applications, data and processes across multiple environments, including cloud and on-premises servers. The company’s platform acts like a kind of bridge, allowing for uninterrupted data flow across these environments. Above all, businesses can use Boomi’s integrated tools to build more sophisticated apps by tapping multiple data sources.

AI agents are booming

Boomi AgentStudio has been in beta for some time. It is an AI Agent Lifecycle Management Platform that provides a no-code interface for design, building, managing and managing AI agents that leverage extensive integration. The AI agent can perform all sorts of tasks, including customer support and cost reporting automation, Boomi said.

Boomi’s new multi-year collaboration with AWS means that Boomi Agent Studio can be used to manage and coordinate AI agents built using the popular Amazon Bedrock platform. It also integrates with Amazon Q to support the creation of AI agents more quickly through a low-coded interface.

The company said its customers have already built over 33,000 AI agents using Boomi AgentStudio, and now offers a unique, pre-built suite of agents that can automate complex tasks, streamline business processes and accelerate integration. It’s now available free of charge to all Boomi Enterprise customers.

These include new integration advisors who can help by autonomously reviewing integration processes and providing feedback on efficiency and maintainability. There is also a new application programming interface design agent that automatically generates the required specifications to help users create and edit APIs. Others include API documentation agents that generate technical documentation for APIs, and data connector agents that can build “connectors” for REST-based sources, the company said.

To give AI agents even more empowerment, Boomi has announced support for the increasingly popular and open source model context protocol, first developed by artificial PBC. MCP provides a standardized interface for integrating large-scale language models with external data and development tools, allowing AI applications (including AI agents) to securely retrieve data from external sources and use third-party tools.

Boomi said it incorporates native MCP support throughout the Boomi Enterprise platform as a key protocol for process execution. For example, Boomi AgentStudio leverages MCP to enable agents to search, discover and use third-party data and tools.

Finally, Boomi announced the availability of a new service called Boomi Data Integration. Based on the technology of a company called Rivery Technologies Ltd., which Boomi acquired in December, it will allow customers to automate the creation of data pipelines to accelerate data analytics. It also said that by allowing AI agents to access more data, it will help expand the capabilities of AI agents.

Boomi CEO Steve Lucas said the company’s agent AI innovation is part of an effort to help companies deal with overwhelming data sprawl and digital fragmentation. “The future belongs to an organization that can intelligently connect everything and automate something. Boomi is the platform that makes it happen,” he said.
