New Delhi (India), February 19 (ANI): Meta’s Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang on Thursday highlighted how the company’s artificial intelligence tools are enabling creators and small businesses across India to innovate and scale efficiently.
Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit, Wang said, “Creators across India are using our AI to automatically translate Reels into the language of their audience.”
He added that small and medium-sized businesses are leveraging the AI-powered WhatsApp Business agent and generative AI tools, which can be created in just 10 minutes, to create ads and reach customers more effectively than ever before.
“Small businesses are talking to customers through a WhatsApp Business Agent created in 10 minutes on their mobile phone and using our Gen AI tool to create ads and reach customers much more efficiently than ever before,” he said.
Wang praised India’s technology talent, saying, “India has world-class developers building genius things to solve societal challenges. People are using our AI here and now. They’re getting value from it, and they’re building great things with it. That gives us confidence in what we’re building for.”
He also revealed plans for future AI models, saying, “We are releasing new models this year, with the first models coming in the coming months. These will be deeply integrated with our products in a way that we’re really looking forward to. We’re optimistic about the trajectory we’re on.”
The India AI Impact Summit brought together government policymakers, industry AI experts, academics, technology innovators, and civil society from around the world in New Delhi to foster a global conversation on artificial intelligence.
The India AI Impact Summit is the first global AI summit to be held in the Global South, reflecting the transformative potential of AI in line with the national vision of ‘Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya’ (well-being for all, happiness for all) and the global principle of AI for humanity. The summit is part of an evolving international process aimed at strengthening global cooperation on the governance, safety, and social impact of AI.
India AI Impact Summit 2026 will be guided by three scriptures or fundamental pillars: People, Planet, and Progress. These scriptures clearly state the core principles for global cooperation on artificial intelligence. They aim to foster human-centered AI, environmentally sustainable AI advances, and inclusive economic and technological advances that protect the rights and ensure fair benefits for all of society.
The summit was attended by over 110 countries, 30 international organizations, including approximately 20 HoS/HoG level participants, and approximately 45 ministers. (Ani)
